Once you are scheduled for the SAT exam you are sent an admission ticket. This admission ticket has a deadline on the bottom that states the latest date you will be allowed to reschedule online. If you miss the rescheduling date online, there is always the option of calling the College Board office and asking someone to reschedule with you over the phone.
This option is available even after the date of the exam has passed. There are some late fees for rescheduling. Qualified students are able to get the SAT registration fee waived, but test date change fees are not eligible for fee waivers.
Just call the College Board hotline, and they can change the test date for you. There will likely be a fee to change the date, but it is typically less expensive than it would be to register for the exam completely.
If you are thinking of canceling instead of rescheduling, consider that re-registering for the SAT is more expensive than re-scheduling. In addition, while it is possible to get a refund on your SAT registration fee, this refund can take up to six weeks after the test date according to the College Board. If you still decide to cancel your SAT date, all you have to do is not show up.
In addition, all refunds for the SAT registration are only partial, and you are only eligible for a refund if you cancel 5 days before the test.
