So Friday was our first Catacylsm raid night. As a reminder, Reversion and I are wrangling a raid with guildies. As always I sent out invites the weekend before. I asked a backup, and we had two empty slots to fill anyway. Some of our raiders are the same people, and until they get all their alts geared up they may be raiding on the same character in both raids.
Plus, I figured if we had empty slots it would make sense to try to fill in with people from the other raid. He came to visit last week and we were able to do some good runs, as well as rep grinding to get gear.
Then Thursday night Repgrind told me that Bastion trash is dropping epics at a pretty good rate, and I had a plan. Friday night rolls around. I find out later his internet choose that time to explode. Then we pulled in a dps DK to replace him. She was in the other raid so I figured we were helping guild raiders anyway.
We start clearing trash. It hits hard, but we had an expert guide — Ado, a hunter who used to be in our guild and whose wife is a core raider in our run. He taunted whenever the fire phase came up. Oh, and just about everyone else was melee dps except for a hunter. It was a macro, kinda forgot what it said and deleted it after the fight. Prot pally thanked me cause he solo-tanked the rest of the encounter and got a vid on youtube called "Lords of the 1 Ring " or some crap. It got deleted fast though. Quit my sub right after 4. I don't claim to be professional. People were soloing Firelands in patch 5. I see other people in ilvl gear doing more dps than me in ilvl gear and I have no idea what they're doing that I'm not.
However I think a clarifying post is needed on this page. Two hits out of three means you're dead. If your class can't avoid it you need to do about K dps to kill him within 63 sec. As a guardian druid you can avoid it through dodge and. But a dodge trinket means less dps trinkets, and the faster you kill him the fewer Decimation Blade will be cast. The second key is killing him before he goes berserk. As a tank spec your damage output may not be enough. Using , Berserk , Virmen's Bite , and potential trinkets at the same time allows considerable dps in Cat Form during the 40ish seconds between his Decimation Blade.
I recommend a macro button to mash to pop everything at once. None trigger a global cooldown. To further boost your dps you can fight Alysrazor to get the buff Blazing Power which you can stack up to 25 to get the buff Alysra's Razor , then fly over to Baleroc, Shadowmeld or leave combat some other way if you can, and start nuking Baleroc. If you can't leave combat with Alysrazor you may have some Voracious Hatchling join you at Baleroc's place, but hopefully they'll despawn once Alysrazor detects you as too far away.
Your energy regen will be insane from the haste buff, mine was around Even if you can kill Baleroc without these buffs there's a good reason to grab them - by killing him faster you lower your chance to wipe. There's an invisible wall around Baleroc's place some 50 yards up into the air. You need to fly over it. It will take seconds to reach Baleroc so you got seconds with the buffs to do work. Funny how RNG can taunt you.
First time I tried Baleroc, without any flying buff, I got all the way to his berserk killing me with melee hits. I'll keep trying until RNG blesses me. I might try using Resolve of Niuzao. The damage he deals is negligible compared to the damage dealt after stacks of the crystal debuff, and the aoe the crystal pulses does minimal damage. You WILL still need some kind of healing though, especially if you are doing 25 hc. Comment by zedwards Yeah I don't know. Don't see lots of others saying what to do. I believe this is only possible in the Brewmaster spec. If you take one hit, you must immediately pop Guard, Expel Harm, and then the best healing potion money can buy.
After that all you can do is cross your fingers. It will actually benefit you to have LESS max HP for this encounter, although the only benefit is during that second window in-between his Decimation Blade swings when you're healing yourself back up for another hit.
The numbers you're healing yourself for aren't quite as important as the actual percentage you're healing yourself for. Lower max HP means potions will be healing you for a higher percentage, even though they're technically still healing you for the same amount. Sometimes you get two Inferno Blades in a row.
Every once in a blue moon, this is actually a really easy fight and you can burn him down before he hits his 3rd blade cycle. If you can make it through one single Decimation Blade phase lasting 15 seconds, just burn down the boss and acquire your free transmogs and heroic achieve. Sounds simple, right?
Be prepared for a lot of cursing, broken keyboards, and the world's saltiest, most brine-soaked tears. Second time, I blew all cooldowns, stood in the one spot and nukeorama. Comment by benx At this moment, it's impossible for a ilvl or lower mage to solo this in 25m heroic. And it's still tough to solo at ilvl Since blizzard took away the Glyph of Evocation, no more periodic heal while standing on Rune of Power. Mirror Image talent is a must for this fight even the images cant last in 2 hits.
I found Frost mage is easier to solo this because your pet can buy you a little time. It would be a lot easier if Blizzard didn't take away the healing frostbolt, which could heal the pet. The boss will always attack the pet. You cannot out run the boss so kiting is pointless. It's a DPS race for mage in this fight.
You wanna reset all your spell CDs as soon as possible. Use them up, use Ice Block again. Nuke as fast as you can. Again, this fight is a DPS race for mage. Comment by Starfury 25h seems impossible to solo at least as a prot paladin with gear.
Even getting lucky and having 2 inferno blades in a row I couldn't kill him before the 3rd and there seems to be no way to survive decimation blade due to it ignoring divine shield. Damage reduction doesn't seem to have any effect. Also tried it as ret and there was just too much incoming damage. Comment by Avaressa Easy to solo as guardian druid. First I tried as balance but at some point I got to much dmg to heal through.
Then I did as guardian and followed the tip of someone to keep out of range when he is casting his shard spell. Somehow, this made him spamming this spell because all I was doing was strafe-running in circles arround him.
Comment by reflexion Just soloed him today as a Ret Paladin. After 3 close but failed attempts, I read around for advice. Unfortunately, everyone was saying it's pretty much still unsoloable for Ret. Going back for another attempt, I decided to just blow everything which I did before but instead of tanking and trying to move out of shards and the RNG, I simply kept moving.
Back up, hit a wall, strafe, turn, back up, hit a wall, strafe, etc. Let me know if this strategy works for you, and happy hunting! Comment by Nalixor I just want to say this fight is easy if you're a BM hunter. Just let pet do all the damage, sit back and spam Kill Command and Mend Pet, and hit your cooldowns. Oh, and move away from Crystals. Comment by Alacor Clear all bosses apart from bird boss. Engage Alysrazor stack buff to Kill her and fly over to Baleroc. Proceed to global him on 25 heroic.
Comment by Palahniuk If you are a balance druid or any other spec for that matter , spec into Heart of the Wild. This allowed me to easily heal through the damage and basically nuke him standing in one place.
Before using HotW he was hitting me hard. Basically just keep mend pet up and avoid the purple crystals that pop up near you as they are the main thing that will kill you. Baleroc, shannox, Lord Ryolith and Alysrazor are all pretty easy to take down even in 25 man HC as a hunter and all drop around gold along with other loot.

By that point, it's too late to avoid the damage; it's already killing you. As soon as you see the vertical purple stream of light appear on the ground which shows you where the purple crystal is about to appear, RUN!

Comment by Almachai Baleroc is easy to solo for decent dps in Warlords of Draenor. However, as an off-spec dps I have a tendency to run into trouble if Baleroc casts Decimation Blade before you kill him even a paladin bubble is no match for this terrible spell! Mount farming — Firelands Posted on May 22, by sivation. Warriors may want to use Storm Bolt [ Top ]. The order of the bosses in this post is the order I personally do them in [ Top ]. The exception is the last group before the boss: Since the mob marked with a skull does a damage prevention shield which has to be interrupted. Next up we have Alysrazor who has two ways of being handled, depending on your gear level.
The appearence of the boss coincides with the smouldering roots running out This is where the way to do the fight changes; if you have good gear — eg ilvl with the legendary ring — then you can just nuke Alysrazor and the boss will be dead before it takes off.
In fact when Firelands was current content one of the prefered classes to go up would be a Death Knight — the haste buff being really good for them [ Top ]. Kill the trash and then you face Baleroc himself This is a complex fight with debuff sharing, special healing abilities… … and who am I kidding? Just nuke the boss down [ Top ].
